Was born in bologna. He starts
playing guitar at 10 pop rock music by himself.
He studied also classical guitar for 5 years and after
that continues his study on jazz with international
artists like Barney Kessel, Jim Hall, Mick Goddrick,
John Abercrombie,Joe Diorio, Pat Martino.He developed
his musical acquaintances with additional studies of
harmony and composition, and he’s also graduated at
Bologna’s Conservatory GB MARTINI.
His versatility permits him to approach different music
styles and he worked as a sideman with many artists (Mia
Martini in 1987, Tour Baraldi / Dalla in 1991 etc.).
From 1979 he focused on jazz, performing a lot of gigs
with his trio and as a sideman with many Italian jazz
players like Giorgio Baiocco, Piergiorgio Farina, Piero
Odorici, Carlo Atti, in clubs and jazz festivals.
In 1999 he was a jury member in the 5th
edition of the international contest of composition in
memory of the victim of 2nd august 1980, and
in the same occasion he was the lead guitar with the
Arturo Toscanini Orchestra directed by Daniele Callegari
for the concert for electric guitar “CONFLIT and
RESOLUTIONS” in Bologna, then he also played with Al Di
Meola and Larry Corryel the composition “Dragon Gate”.In
2001 he met in jam session Wynton Marsalis.
From 2002 he focused on Manouche music (Django style)
and with his MARTIRANI GIPSY SWING trio he recorded in
2005 the album “SWINGOLOGY”. Currently he works as
arranger and composer for soundtracks for radio,
television and commercial. Beside journeyman activities
from the early 1980 he teaches music and guitar in
associations and private schools. |
